The first key principle of a successful team: effective communication<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Effectively communicating teams must have three E’s:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Face-to-face communication is the best type of communication, which improves team performance by 35%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The least valuable form of communication is by email and text messages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Co-located team<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Informal chats are \u201calso\u201d needed within a team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Communication between team members can change the communication pattern by up to 50%!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Three characteristics of virtuous companions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Humble: Lacking excessive selfishness or concern for their ranks<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Hungry: always seeking more (hungry to learn, energetic, new experience, beyond expectations, self-motivated, enthusiastic, committed, diligent, responsible)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Intelligent\/smart: more importantly EQ rather than IQ (70% to 30%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        EQ: the ability to treat others in a pleasant and reasonable manner\/intelligence in interpersonal relationships<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Emotional intelligence: effective interaction and appropriate question asking that fosters empathic (non-judgmental) listening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Different types of people with three characteristics of humility, hunger and intelligence:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        • Humble but lacking hunger and intelligence: unpretentious people (pawns)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Hungry people without humility and intelligence: team destroyers (bulldozers)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Highly intelligent people without humility and hunger: charming (entertainers)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Very humble and highly hungry: unexpected sabotage<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • High humility and high intelligence: lovely but not hardworking<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • very hungry and highly intelligent: skilled politician<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          The third key principle of a successful team: complementary members<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

          We see the world not as it is, but from our own perspective. What we see is related to who we are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          The right and left parts of the brain are involved with the holistic and atomistic thinking respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          6 thinking hats:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          White hat (realistic)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Red hat (emotional)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Yellow hat (optimistic)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Black hat (pessimistic)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Green hat (creative)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Blue hat (process oriented): It is good for a team to have a leader with a blue hat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Similarity is not a requirement for unity! Unity requires team members to be complementary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Forming a team: a leader is a commander.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Resilience means experiencing, feeling, failing, getting hurt, and falling, but getting up and continuing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
